Anterior crossbite is often an indication for Early Phase I Treatment, since it can result in damage to both the teeth and surrounding tissue.
Anterior crossbite correction is often seen in Class III growers, in which case an RPE (expander) & a facemask may be indicated. Read more about expander & facemask therapy on our appliances page.
Anterior crossbites if left untreated in the early stages may lead to severe gum recession, damage/wear to the teeth, atypical dental eruption and asymmetry.
