Developing an attitude of gratitude is one of the healthiest things we can do for ourselves each day.
It’s such a simple idea, with such wonderful positive effects on ourselves & those around us!
Scientists performed an experiment in which they asked one group of people to write down the things that they were grateful for on a weekly basis.
The folks who kept gratitude journals exercised more regularly, reported fewer physical symptoms, felt better about their lives as a whole, and were generally more optimistic about the upcoming week. Click on the image above for more gratitude ideas!
Try it! At the end of each day, write down one great thing that happened!
Even a single act of kindness can go a long way! Scientists studying positive psychology found that a one-time act of thoughtful gratitude produced an immediate 10% increase in happiness and 35% reduction in depressive symptoms.
The happy effects disappeared within three to six months which shows that gratitude is an act to be repeated again and again. (source: my.happify.com)
Try it! Every act of gratitude counts, and it can be as small as saying thank you or telling someone important how much they mean to you.
A close friend of mine has a wonderful habit that she started for her own young family at
Each evening before eating dinner, they go around the dinner table and say something they were thankful for that day.
It’s such a simple small gesture, but such a great way to introduce the concept of gratitude to children at a young age, and incorporate it into their daily lives.
Try it! Try starting your own family gratitude ritual each day, and see the positive ripple effects it creates in your own family.
Have a wonderful weekend!
